Peer Mediators

This academic year we are re-launching the Holt Farm Junior School Peer Mediator scheme.

Children were given information about the role in an assembly led by Mr Keeler and were asked to apply if they felt it was something they wanted to do.

Over 35 children took an application form. A group of 15 children, from across Years 4, 5 and 6, were then chosen to be given the opportunity to take on this role in school.

Here is a photograph of some of the children selected to be our Peer Mediators.

The children will receive training on Peer Mediation before they begin working with other children.

More information will be added to this page, throughout the school year, by Mr Keeler and Mrs Iles or the Peer Mediator Team themselves.

To further make this a scheme for the children run by the children, Mr Keeler has decided to promote the Year 6 Peer Mediators into Lead Peer Mediators. This will ensure that even if the adults are busy, the scheme will continue to run effectively.
The Lead Peer Mediators have already, through consultation with the team, created a duty rota and come up with a list of ideas on how to promote the scheme on a dedicated 'Pupil Well-Being' display board in the school.

We are happy to say that all children have now received their training and some of our more proactive peer mediators have been actively helping children involved in smaller incidents, asking Mr Keeler and Mrs Iles to observe their sessions to ensure they are doing it well ... which they are.
