Harmful sexual behaviour

Dedicated NSPCC helpline 0800 136 663

The helpline provides both children and adults who are potential victims of sexual abuse in schools with the appropriate support and advice. This includes how to contact the police and report crimes if they wish. The helpline will also provide support to parents and professionals too.

Your child’s safety is of paramount importance to our school and we have clear and consistent procedures in place to ensure that your child is safe. We regularly monitor safeguarding provision.

We have a lead member of staff responsible for Child Protection and Safeguarding (Mrs Wass) who meets regularly with the lead governor for safeguarding to monitor the impact of what we have in place; also ensuring we adhere to all legislation.

At Holt Farm Junior School we work together to ensure that children and young people are kept safe by:

·Safe recruitment of staff – including training of interview panel, CRB disclosures and all DBS checks
·Clear and regularly reviewed policies for child protection, behaviour, safeguarding and many other related policies
·Safeguarding is the first item on every staff briefing (weekly)
·Site safety – our school has security doors on the main entrance. All visitors report to the main office in order to gain access to the building. Visitors passes include information about safeguarding
·Online safety – we have a clear Zip it, Block it, Flag it procedure that all children use, in order to improve their safety whilst on the internet at school and at home (please refer to our E- Safety link)
·We have very high standards of behaviour. We have a clear rewards and sanctions policy which enables children to be clear about their responsibilities with regard to behaviour. We work in partnership with our parents/carers if there are any concerns.
·We don’t tolerate bullying and we act swiftly using our clear anti bullying policy and procedures if there are any concerns or issues
·Educational visits are always risk assessed.
·Our Local Governing Body meet termly to monitor and discuss Health and Safety
·We have several members of staff who are fully trained First Aiders. Children are sent to the medical room if they are hurt or feeling poorly.
·We are an inclusive school. Our Inclusion Leader works closely with our children and their families to support any additional needs effectively.
·We have a strong belief in partnership working with our families. Our open door policy means that effective communication can take place.

All relevant Safeguarding Policies and information (including the most up-to-date Child ProtectionPolicy) are available in hard copy form in a folder outside our School Office and by clicking on the relevant policies below. You may also find additional information on our 'Online Safety' page.
